The combination of grapes Merlot and Tannat, offer you an accessible and bright wine, suitable for each occasion. Additionally Chateau Le Tuco can be described as a smooth and mild, low-tannin, red wine. We, as a family, are extremely proud of the creation of Chateau Le Tuco and we would therefore love to share our story and the experience of tasting with you.

The process

Meet Thierry

The winemaking process starts in a very early stage thanks to the amazing local wine farmer Thierry. Thierry is responsible for the entire coordination of the process starting from a completely empty field to a fine wine that can be tasted with friends and family.

  • A first crucial step in this process, is growing grapes on the vines. Here, we chose to use the following 3 grape varieties: Merlot, Colombard and Tannat.

  • After the growing process, the annual grape picking takes place. This hand-harvesting is performed with the help of the local community where the grapes are collected in large baskets and transferred to the winery in Gonrin, a nearby town.

  • In this winery, the grapes for the red wine Chateau Le Tuco are being lightly pressed with respect to skins and seeds of the grape. This is simply because many of the quality and character of this red wine comes from the grape skins and seeds.

  • The pressing process is followed by the most critical step in producing wine: the fermentation process. Chateau Le Tuco is fermented in large open vessels at a temperature of 70-85 degrees. Additionally, our wine can be seen as natural since no artificial or synthetic ingredients have been added.

  • Subsequently, the wine is matured in oak barrels and therefore adds specific complex flavors and textures to our wine. For Chateau Le Tuco we deliberately chose to mature them for a short amount of time.

  • Once the maturing process is finished, the wine is ready to be clarified or fined. Here, a specific technique is used to remove any unwanted particles before bottling the wine. This clarifying process is followed by bottling our own property-made wine Chateau Le Tuco.

  • We are extremely proud to present this fine wine to you and hope you enjoy the specific aromas and smooth mouthfeel the wine involves. Cheers!
